The Power of Trust & Acceptance
In life it’s rather easy to trust the Universe, God, or your higher power when all is well and everything’s flowing smoothly and in perfect harmony and order. What’s a bit more challenging however, is trusting the process when you are going through some dark emotions, a health scare, a relationship struggle, a tragic loss, a death, divorce or etc. It is during these challenging times that our faith and trust is most often tried. The harsh reality however is that in life sometimes we’re up against some pretty scary stuff. It kind of goes along with the human condition. It’s part of the process of being alive. And it’s often in these very moments that our faith in humanity, in deity can be tested. Part of the process of the human experience and the challenges we face however, is trusting that there is usually a lesson for us that needs to be shown or revealed. The Universe is loving, generous and supportive and somehow always has our highest, best good in mind. It knows somehow what we need for our growth and unfolding. And just as it knows when to cause the flowers to bloom and unfold in their glory, it also knows how to help us unfold to be able to reach our destinies and fulfill our divine purposes. And if we can just try and trust this, then we can utilize our power of trust and acceptance. What if we believed that the Universe always had our backs? How might we live our lives differently? If you can learn to trust and accept your higher power during the challenging times, then you can learn to trust it in all moments.
The irony of life is that trusting a higher power in moments of difficulty can be damn right challenging. Nobody ever said life was supposed to be smooth sailing though. But isn’t it amazing how during our most trying times we often look back and realize that we somehow had to dig deep to find courage and strength to go on and that somehow we always do. Think about how many times in your life you thought you would never make it through something and yet somehow you did. In my youth I was a competitive runner. I was out for a run one day, training for a very important competition and the wind was blowing rather hard in the direction I was running in for a good couple of miles. I began to curse the wind and complain and moan within myself about the difficulty it was causing me. But after completing my 6-mile run that day, I had a profound realization. I actually felt stronger because of the resistance I had overcome and made it through. Running into the wind actually conditioned me better than my regular work out would have done. And the next time I ran the same course without the wind, it felt much easier, and I felt stronger. I realized that day that running into the wind made me stronger mentally and physically and gave me a new perspective I hadn’t seen before. And then I actually started to thank the wind for blowing in my face. Because somehow the resistance was exactly what I needed to make myself stronger, tougher and more able to handle the pain of pushing myself harder. It was actually a gift from the heavens, even though it felt like a curse at first.
I have never forgotten the lesson I learned that important day. I think it’s easy to forget that our challenges and struggles can oftentimes be the very things that cause us to take our lives to a whole new level, or which help us move in a whole new direction, that had we not had the trying times, we would have missed out on. It is through the opportunity of having to push ourselves to grow through the challenging, difficult things that helps us develop and strengthen and become our best versions. Just as a child lovingly trusts that his or her parents will support them, take care of them and nurture them, we can all do the same when it comes to trusting our lives in the hands of our creator. Our creator knows what’s best for us and knows exactly what we all need to become our next highest version. This loving force, who is also a master artist is constantly shaping and molding us into the perfect creation. When your back is against the wall and you feel like you are stuck, or that you cannot possibly go on, remember that you are being molded, strengthened and conditioned by a loving presence and power and that the Universe truly always has your back…
