The Power of a Good Morning Routine

There are two ways we can start the day, but they both produce drastically different results. One is sleeping late, getting up and hurrying through the day. The other is getting up an hour or so early, taking time to gather your thoughts, breathe and prepare mentally, physically and spiritually for the day. If you are anything like me, you understand the power of having a morning routine. Most successful people will tell you it’s a huge component in creating the kind of life truly worth living. And it is so important that it can either make or break your life. But like anything in life, it’s habitual. We are creatures of habit, and we all create habits both good and bad that we in turn then live by. But this is one area that sets the stage for everything. And if you neglect yourself, especially in the morning, then what happens is, it becomes easier to neglect everything around you throughout the day as well.

A positive life flows out of good habits and good intentions. It starts by making better personal choices and decisions, by valuing ourselves more so that we have more to give. The thing about your morning routine that makes it so important is that each day is like a miniature lifetime. And every day we have the grand opportunity of starting fresh and making positive changes in our lives. And when we start the day off right, it typically has a way of ending right. And believe it or not, you can literally change your life by changing your morning schedule. If we are always on autopilot rushing around like ants, then we can miss out on the great grace of the Universe and the power of spirit in our lives. When we rush and aren’t mindful about the kind of days we want to create and experience we cut ourselves off from spirit’s flow. And we trade in good, positive vibes for frantic, stressful ones. The reality of life is that nothing good really begins with frenetic energy anyways. Good things blossom from the natural flow of life, just like a seed takes time to sprout, grow and produce fruit.

If you don’t have a morning routine, I challenge you to create one for yourself by starting somewhere. Try waking up one hour earlier than normal and do something to uplift yourself during this time. You will quickly see how different your days and life start to feel. Whether you go for a walk in your neighborhood to soak up the sunshine, drink a cup of coffee or tea and scribble down a few positive intentions, write in a gratitude journal, do body flow exercises, read something uplifting, or pray/meditate, the important thing is doing something that enlivens and inspires you. The key here is that we welcome the morning with joy, excitement and wonder just like children do. The rising sun is a symbolic reminder of new life coming through, new beginnings and new rays of hope shining down upon humanity. Life is such an amazing gift and treasure. Start your day off right with a little sunshine for your soul and a little peace and tranquility for your heart and mind. You definitely won’t regret it!
