Having Fun in Life

As we fully embark on our journeys into personal development and self-improvement, sometimes it’s easy to overlook and lose sight of the simple things in life. Now don’t get me wrong, pursuing these things are definitely good. We should always be aspiring higher and looking for ways to grow and develop, since this is a big part of what makes us feel alive and purposeful as human beings. But it’s so important to remember that there is more to life than personal achievement, success and etc. Life has to be fun, spontaneous and adventurous too. It can’t be all work, no play, even if you are working diligently towards creating your dream life. We have to try to find balance in ALL things. If we are not careful, we can get out of balance even while chasing our dreams and seeking to fulfill our destinies. It’s good to have dreams, goals and to pursue our unique purpose, but we cannot allow these things to consume our every waking moment. We still need to take care of ourselves in other areas; namely, our physical and mental health, our spiritual and emotional well-being, as well as maintain our relationships with those important to us. Life is an intricate balance between self-care, relationships, chasing dreams/passions, having fun and being in the moment. And to be well rounded individuals, we need to try and find that balance in all of these areas.

As adults we seem to easily lose our sense of adventure and spontaneity. We get so caught up in our daily responsibilities and climbing the ladder to success that we forget to relax and enjoy the ride along the way. The danger in this is that if we become all serious, business minded, we can easily miss out on a lot of joy in the small details. The remedy to this is to try and become more childlike. To be like a child again and find joy and magic in every moment is truly important, especially for us adults. Watching a child at play really helps to keep what’s most important at the forefront of our lives. They are so in the moment, so focused on enjoying the simple things. They get satisfaction from merely coloring a picture, building with blocks, jumping in puddles, or running around in the park. Everything is wondrous and magical to them. It’s truly beautiful to witness. They remind us of the beauty, joy and simplicity that are all around us at any given moment, if we will just pay attention to it. They keep life simple and find joy and happiness in something as simple as blowing the seeds off of a dandelion. Sometimes it’s easy to forget what a miracle and treasure each and every day really is. Our lives are a gift bestowed upon us by our creator. And if we can try to remember this, it helps keep our lives in perspective. Life is a gift. This day and very moment is a gift. All the people in our lives are a gift. And this life is meant to be fully lived, fully enjoyed and especially, to be fun in the process. If we will but remember to be more like children in our daily lives, then we will make having fun an important part of our agendas. Let this message be a simple reminder to try and schedule more fun activities into your schedule, to be more like children in your pursuits and endeavors, so that you might have fun along the way while pursuing your gifts, talents and personal growth goals.
